CARR , HENRY LASCELLES ( 1841 - 1902 ), journalist and newspaper proprietor . Born at Knottingley, Yorks. , son of the Rev. James B. Carr , a Wesleyan minister who was stationed for a period at Barry, Glam. He was educated at S. Aidan's Theological College , Birkenhead , but after concluding his college course he abandoned the pulpit for the press.

After some years at the Daily Post office in Liverpool he became a sub-editor on the Western Mail , Cardiff (in the first year of its publication, 1869 ), then manager , and afterwards editor and partproprietor , until ill health compelled him to retire in 1901 .

He took part in the public life of Cardiff , as town councillor and J.P. He wrote a number of books , including one on the Welsh Sunday Closing Act . He d. 5 Oct. 1902 .
