CATRIN ferch GRUFFUDD ap HYWEL (fl. c. 1555), poet,
of ‘Llanddeiniolen’ (i.e. Llanddeiniolfab or Llanddanielfab) in Anglesey. Her poetry is preserved in B.M. Add. MSS. 14892, 14906, 14994, and N.L.W. MSS. 695, 1553, 1559, 2602, 6209. Among her work is an awdl in praise of Jesus Christ (or, according to some manuscript sources, an awdl of a sick girl in remembrance of Christ and his passion, or an awdl of confession of a sinner), and four englynion to the cold summer of 1555.
