CHARLES , JAMES ( 1851 - 1906 ), painter .

Born at Warrington but of Welsh origin, his father having come from Caernarvonshire . He studied at Hatherley's Studio and at the Royal Academy Schools , London . Charles was a frequent exhibitor at the Royal Academy and other London galleries for almost forty years of his life. Two of his works — ‘ The Village Road ’ and ‘ Winter ,’ both of them oil paintings — are in the National Museum of Wales . He d. in 1906 .
