DAFYDD BAENTIWR (fl. c. 1500-1530?), a poet whose only extant work is his bardic controversy (ymryson) with Gruffydd ap Ieuan ap Rhys Llwyd. It contains a poem addressed to Gruffydd by Dafydd, a poem in reply by Gruffydd, and another by Dafydd. This controversy is to be found in the following manuscripts — Cardiff 7, Mostyn 143, N.L.W. 5269, Pen. 112 and 152; and parts of it in N.L.W. 728 and Pen. 78.
