DAVIS , DAVID DANIEL ( 1777 - 1841 ), physician ;

b. 15 June 1777 at Llandyfaelog, Carms. He was at Carmarthen grammar school and later, with the intention of entering the ministry, at the Dissenting Academy at Northampton , whence he went to Glasgow University , graduating there in 1801 . After practising at Sheffield [where he also contributed to the Edinburgh Review ], he removed to London in 1813 , and was appointed physician to Queen Charlotte's Hospital . In 1819 he attended the duchess of Kent at the birth of queen Victoria ; and in 1827 became professor of midwifery at University College . He d. 4 Dec. 1841 .
