DAVIES , THOMAS ( 1823 - 1898 ), Independent minister ;

b. at Glanrafon , Pencarreg, Carms. , [17] Dec. 1823 . In 1839 his parents moved to Dowlais , and in 1840 he became a member of Bethania , where, in 1846 , he began to preach . After a preliminary course at Ffrwd-y-fal school he was admitted in 1848 to the Independent College , Brecon . In June 1852 he was ordained at Bethel , Llansamlet , but in Jan. 1854 moved to Siloah , Llanelly , where he spent the rest of his life. He was editor of Y Diwygiwr from 1865 to 1879 . He wrote and lectured extensively on scientific subjects and published a volume of sermons . He d. 29 Feb. 1898 .
