EDWARDS , THOMAS ( 1649 - 1700 ), of Rhual , Flints. , Puritan controversialist ;

b. at Rhual 9 Oct. 1649 , son of Thomas and Elizabeth Edwards . On 2 Aug. 1672 he m. Jane , fifth daughter of Robert Davies , Gwysaney (see Davies-Cooke ); they had no issue. Thomas Edwards was a member of the Dissenting church at Wrexham , and in the controversy about the views of Daniel Williams (q.v.) he supported the Independents and High Calvinism . His chief contribution to the controversy was the book, The Paraselene dismantled of her Cloud or Baxterianism Barefac'd ( London , 1699 ). He accepted believers’ baptism on 4 Sept. 1695 — N.L.W. (Rhual MS. 80) . He d. 21 Dec. 1700 .
