ELLIS , HUW ( 1714 - 1774 ), harpist ;

b. at Trawsfynydd, Mer . A skilled player of the ‘telyn deir-res’ (triple harp) , he was considered the best Welsh folk-song player of his time. He met his death by drowning in the river Dysynni , near Towyn, Mer. , 5 Aug. 1774 , and was buried in Towyn churchyard.
