ELLIS , RICHARD ( 1784 - 1824 ), excise officer and musician ;

b. 24 Jan. 1784 , son of Lewis Ellis (q.v.) , Llansadwrn , Anglesey , organist at Beaumaris parish church . In 1800 he succeeded his father as organist of Beaumaris church , a post which he held until he d. In 1821 he finished collecting material for a book containing hymn-tunes and psalms for use in churches , a work for the publication of which the bishop of Bangor gave his consent; what became of the collection is not, however, known. He composed several religious pieces . He d. 10 Dec. 1824 and was buried in Beaumaris churchyard.
