GOODEN, JAMES (1670-1730), Jesuit;
b. in Denbighshire, 1670. He was educated at S. Omer College and was admitted a member of the society of Jesus, 2 Feb. 1706-7. For some years he was professor of mathematics and philosophy at Liége and, from 1721-2 to 1728 was warden of S. Omer College. He is known to have written two books: Anathemata Poetica Serenissimo Walliae Principi Jacobi regis, … etc. (S. Omer, 1688), and Trigonometria plana et sphaerica, … etc. (Liége, 1704). He d. at S. Omer 11 Oct. 1730.
