GOODEN , JAMES ( 1670 - 1730 ), Jesuit ;

b. in Denbighshire , 1670 . He was educated at S. Omer College and was admitted a member of the society of Jesus , 2 Feb. 1706-7 . For some years he was professor of mathematics and philosophy at Liége and, from 1721-2 to 1728 was warden of S. Omer College . He is known to have written two books: Anathemata Poetica Serenissimo Walliae Principi Jacobi regis, … etc. ( S. Omer , 1688 ), and Trigonometria plana et sphaerica, … etc. ( Liége , 1704 ). He d. at S. Omer 11 Oct. 1730 .
