GRIFFITHS , GRIFFITH ( 1762 - 1818 ), Presbyterian minister ,

of unknown antecedents, was at Castellhywel school and went to Swansea Academy in 1784 . He was ordained in 1788 as colleague to David Griffiths at Llechryd, Cards. , and after D. Griffiths 's death ( 1794 ) was sole pastor ; he also kept school . Like his colleague, he was far from being an orthodox Calvinist ; indeed, throughout his career at Llechryd he also assisted David Davis (q.v.) at Pen-rhiw ; his obituary notice in the Monthly Repository says he ‘might be ranked as a low Arian.’ He d. 31 Jan. 1818 , aged 56, at Neuadd Wilym , half-way between Llechryd and Cardigan . T. J. Griffiths ( Tau Gimel , q.v.) , was his son.
