HARRISON, RICHARD (1743-1830), Wesleyan Methodist local preacher;
b. 1 Oct. 1743. After his conversion in 1766, he became a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Society which met at the Octagon, Chester, then of the Bryngwyn society, and, finally, of the society which was formed at his house at Northop, Flints., sometime before 1774. By trade a weaver, he gave generously of his time to promoting Welsh Wesleyan Methodism in Denbighshire and Flintshire. He was one of the first to expound Wesley's Arminianism in North Wales, and his counsel and assistance were invaluable to Evan Roberts, Denbigh, Edward Jones, Bathafarn, (1778-1837) (q.v.), Owen Davies (1752-1830) (q.v.), and John Hughes (1776-1843) (q.v.).
