HUMPHREYS , GEORGE ( 1747? - 1813 ), sexton, poet ,

and friend of Thomas Edwards ( Twm o'r Nant ) . Harri Myllin (q.v.) writing in Cymru (O.M.E.) , 1893 , says that he was b. at Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant and spent his entire life there. The entry of his christening has not been found, but he was certainly buried there, 10 June 1813 , at the age of sixty-six. Cynddelw ( Robert Ellis , q.v.) had a high opinion of him as a poet . We have, in the handwriting of his son George Humphreys ( N.L.W. MS. 6729 ), copies of his poems.
