HUW PENNAL ( fl. 15th cent. ), poet ;

a native, apparently, of Pennal in Merioneth . Some examples of his work remain in manuscript, including cywyddau to Wiliam Herbert , earl of Pembroke , Dafydd ap Rhys of Llangurig , the three sons of Ieuan Blayney of Gregynog , and two love poems. No details regarding his life are to be found, but it is obvious that the dates given him in Blackwell , and W. Owen , Cambrian Biog. are too late.
