HUW ap DAFYDD ( fl. 1550-1628 ), poet .

From the fact that the objects of his panegyrics and elegies were North Wales gentry it appears that the poet , too, was from that part of Wales though according to Cambrian Biog. , Cymru (O.J) , Em. W. , and Blackwell he was from Ewyas, Herefs. A number of his poems remain in manuscripts, including some to Hywel ap Siôn ap Dafydd ab Ithel Fychan of Bryn Cynddel , Siôn ap Hywel Fychan of Penllyn , Sir Roger Salusbury of Llewenni , Pierce Salusbury of Bachymbyd , Pirs Griffith (q.v.) of Penrhyn , Lewys Owain of Dolgelley , and Siôn ab Elis Eutun (Eyton) of Ruabon .
