IEUAN CLYWEDOG (fl. 1577-1596), poet;
a native, apparently, of the Clywedog Valley in Montgomeryshire. Some of his work exists in manuscript, and this includes cywyddau composed between c. 1577 and 1596, to members of the Cefn Digoll, Gartheryr, Mallwyd, Mathafarn, and Moelyrch families, and a cywydd to the trout. The following manuscripts contain examples of his poems: Cardiff MS. 84; Cwrtmawr MSS. 12, 21, 207; Llanst. MSS. 118, 133, 155; Pen. MS. 87. The dates given him in Blackwell and Cymru (O.J.) are more than a hundred years too early.
