IEUAN CLYWEDOG ( fl. 1577-1596 ), poet ;

a native, apparently, of the Clywedog Valley in Montgomeryshire . Some of his work exists in manuscript, and this includes cywyddau composed between c. 1577 and 1596 , to members of the Cefn Digoll , Gartheryr , Mallwyd , Mathafarn , and Moelyrch families, and a cywydd to the trout. The following manuscripts contain examples of his poems: Cardiff MS. 84 ; Cwrtmawr MSS. 12, 21, 207 ; Llanst. MSS. 118, 133, 155 ; Pen. MS. 87 . The dates given him in Blackwell and Cymru (O.J.) are more than a hundred years too early.
