IORWERTH DRWYNDWN ( The Flat-nosed ) (d. probably c. 1174 ),

elder son of Owain Gwynedd (q.v.) by Gwladus , daughter of Llywarch ap Trahaearn . He m. a princess of Powys , namely Marared , daughter of Madog ap Maredudd (q.v.) , by whom he had one son, the future Llywelyn ap Iorwerth (q.v.) . In the partition of his father's territories he received Arfon and probably Nanconwy . Shortly afterwards he disappears from view, probably dying about the time of the usurpation of power in Upper Gwynedd by his half-brother, David I , in 1174 .
