JONES , EDWARD ( 1768 - 1813 ), harpist ;

b. at Caerphilly, Glam. , in 1768 . He was given instruction on the harp by Sackville Gwynne (q.v.) , Glanbrân , Llandovery , and became one of the most competent harpists of his time, his repertoire including many Welsh and English airs. He composed the air known as ‘ Caerphilly March .’ [He d. at Caerphilly 17 Dec. 1813 — see the Cambrian , 25 Dec. 1813 .]
