JONES , GRIFFITH ( 1808 - 1886 ), Calvinistic Methodist minister ;

son of John Humphreys , Ty'n-y-clawdd , Tre-garth, Caerns. He had a short course of schooling at Carneddi and Llanfairfechan and was taught boot-making by his father. He began to preach in 1832 . After spending about a year at Bala College , and after being received into the Association in 1834 , he was ordained in 1845 . He refused to be transferred from his native village, where he d. 18 April 1886 . In 1875 he received a call to be pastor of the C.M. church at Tre-garth . His sagacity and wit soon became widely known, and he was often called upon to preach and to lecture in all parts of Wales .
