JONES , JOHN ( 1731 - 1813 ), early Welsh Moravian ;

b. at Llanfaredd, Rads. , near Builth , 21 Aug. 1731 . He is first heard of as a member of Rhos-goch Moravian Society (Rads.) , and ‘a farmer ’ ( 1755 ). By 1762 he was a member of Leominster Congregation, living however at Llanfihangel-tal-y-llyn , and m. to a daughter of the ‘ Justice Prothero ’ who is mentioned by John Wesley ( 3 May 1743 ) in his Journal . He remarried, living at Leominster and acting as agent on a nearby estate . By 1790 (at latest) he was assistant pastor of the Congregation. He d. 4 Feb. 1813 . There was a Thomas Jones , also of Llanfaredd , and also concerned with Moravianism ; but nothing seems to be known about him ( Cymm. , xlv, 17).
