JONES , LEWIS ( Rhuddenfab ; 1835 - 1915 ), printer, poet, and journalist ;

b. 15 June 1835 in Stryd-y-Cerrig , near Llanfwrog church , Ruthin , son of John and Margaret Jones . On 8 April 1845 he was bound apprentice under Isaac Clarke , in the printing office of Mrs. Nathan Maddocks , Ruthin . He was a competitor at eisteddfodau over a long period; he also acted as adjudicator . In N.L.W. MS. 5515 are minutes, in his autograph, of committees which met at Ruthin in connection with the centenary celebration of the founding of Sunday School, whilst in N.L.W. MSS. 5517 and 5518 are preserved letters received by him from many men who were prominent in the public and cultural half of the 19th cent. N.L.W. MS. 5517 also contains copies of a series of articles by him entitled ‘ Deugain Mlynedd yn ôl .’ He d. 19 April 1915 .
