JONES , WILLIAM ( 1764 - 1822 ), hymn writer ;

b. at Cynwyd, Mer. He went to Bala as a lad, and was a weaver in a factory belonging to Simon Lloyd (q.v.) ; he became a Calvinistic Methodist elder . In 1819 he published Aberth Moliant, neu Ychydig Hymnau ; one or more of these hymns of his will be found in practically all our present-day hymnaries. He d. 2 May 1822 , aged 58.
