Born c. 1735, son of Richard Nash Leigh, curate of Llanwynno and Aberdare. He is the ' Edmund Leigh of Penrydd, co. Pembroke ' who was ordained deacon by the bishop of S. David's in 1760 and licensed as curate of Henllan Amgoed. He was ordained priest in 1761 and appointed curate of Llandybie. From 1762 until his death he was curate of Llanedi and he also ministered to the neighbouring parish of Llandeilo-Tal-y-bont. In 1769 he came into contact with Howel Harris and began to consort with the Methodists. He used to attend their Associations in the last quarter of the century but it is probable that, later on, he kept away from them. He died 14 December 1819 at the age of 84, and was buried at Llanedi.
