MAREDUDD ap RHOSER (fl. c. 1530), a poet
who may have been a native of South Wales. No proof is available for connecting him, as Iolo Morganwg did, with Meisgyn (Miskin) in Glamorgan. Examples of his work exist in MSS., including a love poem, an awdl in praise of Ewyas, an elegy to Sir Charles Herbert, another to reconcile William Herbert of Colebrook with William Siôn ap Rhoser of Wern-ddu, and poems in praise of William Evans, chancellor and treasurer of Llandaff (q.v.). Dafydd Benwyn (q.v.), in his elegy to the poet, refers to the poems he composed to the chancellor.
