Born on board the Myfanwy in the Bay of Biscay, daughter of Lewis Jones (1836 - 1904), and given the surname 'Morgan' at her christening. She was brought up in the Welsh colony in Patagonia, where she was educated at the Welsh school kept by R. J. Berwyn and 'Glan Tywi.' She came to Wales in 1885, and again in 1888 when she entered Dr. Williams's school at Dolgelley, where she spent the next two years. After returning to the Colony she kept a boarding school for girls for two years. In 1891 she began to compete for the essay prizes in the Colony eisteddfodau, and in 1893 was for a time editor and compositor of Y Drafod. She visited Wales again in 1896, and in 1897 began to publish articles in Cymru (O.M.E.). She worked hard to establish an intermediate Welsh school at Caiman. In 1898 she travelled in the Andes and sent an account of her journey to Cymru (O.M.E.) (1899-1900). During 1903-9 she was an assistant at Cardiff Library and travelled the whole of Wales, lecturing; before returning to the Colony she visited the Middle East. She again lived in Cardiff from 1912 until 1918, when she returned once more to the Colony, where she was a leader in the religious life of the Welsh community until her death, 29 December 1938.
She published four books: Dringo'r Andes, 1904 (2nd imp. 1907, 3rd imp. 1917); Gwymon y Môr, 1909, giving an account of the voyage from Wales to Patagonia; Ar Dir a Môr, 1913, an account of her visit to Palestine; and Plant yr Haul, 1915 (3rd imp. 1926), relating the story of the Indians of Peru.
