He is remembered for his Cantref Meirionydd, published at Dolgelley in 1890 a few weeks after the death, on 1 March that year, of the author. In its time it was a most useful work, scholarly and painstaking according to the standard then prevailing; it continues to prove a work to which reference can be made.
