OWAIN ab EDWIN (d. 1105), a landowner in Tegeingl (modern Flints.).
He and his brother, Uchtryd, were the reputed sons of Edwin ap Gronw (a great-great-grandson of Hywel Dda (q.v.) by Iwerydd, half-sister of Bleddyn ap Cynfyn (q.v.)). Though he assisted earl Hugh of Chester in the latter's abortive expedition against Gwynedd in 1098, his daughter, Angharad, m. Gruffudd ap Cynan (q.v.). His son, Gronw, was the father of Christina (q.v.), second wife of Owain Gwynedd (q.v.). He should not be confused with his father's cousin — also Owain ab Edwin — of the main royal line of Deheubarth.
