Born in 1834, son of Robert Owen of Neuadd Ddu, Blaenau Ffestiniog; his mother being of the Tyddynllwyn family, Llanfrothen. After having been at Bala C.M. College (1857-61) he won the Dr. Williams scholarship at the University of Glasgow, where he graduated in 1865. He was minister of the churches at Pennal and Maethlon, Meironnydd (1865-99). He was a capable writer and historian and published a number of books, such as Hanes Methodistiaeth Gorllewin Meirionydd (two vols.), 1888; Ysgolfeistriaid Mr. Charles; Cofiant Dafydd Rolant, Pennal; Cofiant y Parch. Griffith Williams, Talsarnau . He died 8 November 1899.
