PARRY, RICHARD (1710-1763), poet, schoolmaster, and sexton, of Newborough , in Anglesey . His published work includes ‘Araith Wgan ar Gân’ (Brython, 1863), and also a number of other poems (one of them at least a translation from English) which were published in the 18th cent.; a list of these is given by Myrddin Fardd in Y Traethodydd, 1886. A carol composed by him is found in N.L.W. MS. 1666 (209b); it is also probable that he is the Richard Parry whose poems are found in Bodewryd MS. 73, N.L.W. MSS. 432, 559, 1238, 6882, 7892, and Swansea MS. 2. According to his tombstone (which has since disappeared) he d. on 5 Jan. 1763, at the age of 53; he was buried in the churchyard of Llannerch-y-medd, south of the east end of the church.
