PRICHARD , JOHN ( 1821 - 1889 ), Calvinistic Methodist minister, and author ;

b. at Amlwch in 1821 . After working in the Parys Mountain copper-works , he went to several schools; he began to preach in 1844 and entered Bala C.M. College in 1845 . He was for six years a missioner at Mancot, Flints. , where he also kept school . In 1853 he returned to Amlwch , where his wife kept a shop down to 1863 . Ordained in 1857 , he accepted in 1864 a pastorate at Amlwch Port ; he resigned his charge in 1884 . He was a popular preacher in all parts of Wales , and a diligent contributor to periodicals ; but he is best remembered for his history of Calvinistic Methodism in AnglesyMethodistiaeth Môn , 1888 . At the time of his death ( 18 Oct. 1889 ), he was moderator of the North Wales C.M. Association . A biography, with a selection of his sermons, by his brother Thomas Prichard , was published in 1898 .
