ROBERTS , THOMAS ROWLAND ( Asaph ; 1857? - 1940 ), biographer ;

b. at S. Asaph . He was for some years a solicitor's clerk at Caernarvon , a court interpreter and official shorthand writer . In 1901 , for a short time, he was editor of Y Genedl Gymreig and its associated newspapers. Later he established an accountant's practice at Colwyn Bay and was the general secretary of the national eisteddfod held there in 1910 , and at Bangor in 1915 . He d. at Colwyn Bay , 16 June 1940 , aged 83, and was buried in Bron-y-nant cemetery . He was the author of the following biographical works: Edmwnd Prys , 1899 ; Y Monwyson , 1902 ; Eminent Welshmen , 1908 , a biographical dictionary for the period 1700-1900 ; and Huw Morus (Eos Ceiriog) , 1910 . His Edmwnd Prys includes a convenient collection of Prys 's poetry, and his Eminent Welshmen , with its ample apparatus of reference, has been found very useful.
