ROWLAND , ELLIS ( c. 1650 - c. 1730 ), ‘ Ellis Rowland o Harlech ’, bard .

Little of his history is known. He wrote poems to some persons connected with Ardudwy, Mer. , e.g. a cywydd of farewell to Humphrey Humphreys , bishop of Bangor , after he had become ( 1689 ) bishop of Hereford , an elegy on Edward Lloyd , Cwmbychan , 172(8), an elegy on Samuel Poole , Tyddynyfelin , near Talsarnau , and a cywydd welcoming lady Owen to Glyncywarch , also near Talsarnau . He also wrote englynion and poems in free metre — cerddi and carolau plygain .
