ROWLAND , JOHN ( 1816? - 1888 ), Unitarian writer .

He was a native of Machynlleth , where he kept a shop for the greater part of his life. He was a strong supporter of Unitarian doctrines and was generally known as ‘ The Unitarian .’ He wrote several pamphlets in defence of his faith, notably Y Cyff Athrawiaethol; yn nghyd ag amrai o'i ganghenau mewn naw o benodau anerchiadol at Drinodwyr y Byd , 1870 . He also employed verse for the expression of his theological and political ideas. His poetic compositions include a lengthy poem, Telyn yr Oes, neu Gân ar y Beibl mewn mewn gysylltiadau pwysig i'r byd wedi eu dosbarthu yn dair pennod yn cynnwys dros gant ac wyth o linellau , 1877 , and two ballads — Y Llo Aur yn arwain llu , 1880 , and Anerchiad Mr. John Jones i John Bwl, yswain, ar y gwaddoliadau, trethoedd, etc. , 1879 . He d. 12 Jan. 1888 , aged 72.
