SEIRIOL ( c. 500- c. 550 ), founder and first abbot of Penmon church ; son of Owain Danwyn ab Einion Yrth ap Cunedda Wledig , and so a second cousin of king Maelgwn Gwynedd (q.v.) and of the same age as the latter. According to Anglesey tradition, he was a great friend of S. Cybi (q.v.) . Seiriol was the chief saint of the Dindaethwy district in Anglesey and also of Penmaenmawr, Caerns. ; his feast day, according to the earliest calendars, was 1 Feb.
