THOMAS , EDWARD ( Idriswyn ; 1847 - 1906 ), journalist .

A native of Aberystwyth according to Bye-Gones (but an englyn in Y Geninen refers to him as a Merioneth man), but a native of Dolgelley , according to the Welsh Gazette and Cambrian News , he was for a time foreman in the Cambrian News printing works, Aberystwyth . Afterwards he was for over twenty years on the staff of the Western Mail , Cardiff , first as a day overseer and later as editor of the Weekly Mail . He wrote much on Welsh affairs and was regarded in his day as a champion of the Welsh language . He d. at Aberystwyth , 15 June 1906 .
