THOMAS , SAMPSON ( 1739 - 1807 ), one of the early Calvinistic Methodist exhorters in Pembrokeshire .

It appears that he was a native of Tre-lech, Carms. , and that he came to Pembrokeshire on his marriage, in 1773 ; a person of that name, the son of a George Thomas , was christened in the parish of Tre-lech a'r Betws , 28 Aug. 1739 . He was converted in 1760 , and in 1773 , as already stated, he married and went to live to his wife's home near Caerfarchell, Pembs. , where there was a Methodist cause. He used to go to Fishguard one Sunday a month to preach , and also travelled further afield, e.g. he preached at Llanllyfni, Caerns. , in 1792 . He and his wife died the same time; there is a record of the burial of Sampson Thomas and Margaret Thomas at Whitchurch, Pembs. , 18 April 1807 .
