Born in Llandwrog parish, Caernarfonshire, 2 August 1702. In 1728 at latest, he was a bookbinder in London. He and his wife joined the Moravian society in 1739. She died 5 December 1766, and at the end of 1767 he decided to return to his native region. It was he who brought Mrs. Alice Griffith (see Griffith, William, 1719 - 1782) into contact with Moravianism, and got David Mathias sent to north-west Wales. He died between March and June 1779.
