WILLIAMS , RICHARD ( Dryw Bach ; 1790 - 1839 ), poet and singer ;

b. at Pant y Gerddinen , Aberdare . He followed the occupations of farmer , auctioneer , and wool merchant . He won prizes for poems on the subjects of ‘ Goleuni ’ and ‘ Pont Pontypridd ’; at the Cardiff eisteddfod of 1834 , he took the second prize for poems eulogising the marquis and marchioness of Bute . His last successful composition was on the subject of the marriage of William Williams , Aberpergwm . He also won several prizes as a vocalist . He d. 20 June 1839 at Pant y Gerddinen .
