WILLIAMS , THOMAS ( Twm Pedrog ; 1774 - 1814 ), poet ;

b. 25 May 1774 , the son of Owen Williams , farmer and inn-keeper , the Sign , Llanbedrog, Caerns. , and Catherine , his wife — and christened 3 June 1774 . He spent some time at sea — one of his awdlau was written on board H.M.S. Amethyst , 1800 — but he returned and settled in his native county. Several poems by him were published at Tremadoc in Y Brython and there is a selection of awdlau , cywyddau , and englynion included by John Jones ( Myrddin Fardd , q.v.) in Cynfeirdd Lleyn , 1905 . He d. in May 1814 , and was buried in the churchyard of Ceidio, Caerns.
