DAVIES , RICHARD (‘ Isgarn ’; 1887 - 1947 ), farmer-shepherd and poet ;

b. at Y Trawscoed in the parish of Caron-is-clawdd, Cards. , 29 Aug. 1887 , and d. there 8 June 1947 . He bequeathed the original manuscripts of his poetic compositions to the National Library of Wales ; he left also to the Library a sum of money on condition that the Council should arrange for the publication of a selection from his manuscripts. This was done in 1949 , the volume, Caniadau Isgarn having an introduction by T.H. Parry-Williams and an appreciation by S.M. Powell . He was deeply interested in local history and antiquities , and was buried, as he had wished, at Strata Florida .
