THOMAS , JOHN EVAN ( 1884 - 1941 ), teacher and writer ;

b. at Penygroes, Caerns. July 1884 . He was prize winner for six lyrics at the national eisteddfod of 1921 . He edited The Normalite , 1909-10 , was author of the Report of the teachers of Caernarfonshire to the Departmental Committee on Rural Education in Wales , 1928 , of articles (‘ Y Gorffennol Di-farw ’) in Y Winllan , 1925 , and articles and poems in Cymru , Y Deyrnas , Y Dinesydd Cymreig , etc. He was treasurer and one of the founders of the North Wales Labour Council , 1914-19 . He was headmaster of Penmachno primary school , and tutor of extramural classes . He d. 1 Jan. 1941 at Penmachno .
