WILLIAMS , DANIEL JENKINS ( 1874 - 1952 ), minister (MC/Presb.) and official historian of the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Church of America ;

b. Genesee Depot, Wis. , USA , 22 Dec. 1874 , the son of Robert H. Williams (b. near Gwalchmai , Anglesey , 1844 ), and Jane Mary (née Jenkins ; b. Wisconsin , daughter of Welsh immigrants). Education: A.B. ( U. Wis. ), 1899 ; M.A. ( U.Wis. ), 1900 ; B.D. ( Union Theol. Sem. ), 1903 ; Ph.D. ( Ohio State Univ. ), 1914 ; D.D. ( Carroll Col., Wis. ), 1918 ; student of Celtic Literature , Oxford , 1904-05 . Ordained by the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Synod of Wisconsin , 1906 . Pastor of churches: Arbor Vitae, Wis. , 1905-07 ; Welsh CM , Columbus, O. , 1907-11 ; 1st Presby. , Oshkosh, Wis. , 1911-15 ; 1st Presby. , Wausau, Wis. , 1915-20 ; 1st Presby. , Cedar Rapids, Ia. , 1920-23 ; Miami Ave. Welsh Presby. , Columbus, O. , 1923-33 ; retired to write official history of the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Church of America , 1933-37 ; supply minister in Florida (winters) and in Wisconsin (summers), 1937 till death; moderator of the Presby. Synod of Wisconsin , 1915 . Fluent in Welsh , he preached in Wales during recesses while attending Oxford , and preached in both English and Welsh throughout his career as a minister in the U.S. He was the author of: The Welsh of Columbus, Ohio; A Study in Adjustment and Assimilation , Oshkosh, Wis. , 1913 ; The Welsh Community of Waukesha County, Wisconsin , Columbus, O. , 1926 ; and 100 Years of Welsh Calvinistic Methodism in America , Philadelphia , 1937 . All three are valuable contributions to the history of the Welsh in the United States , and the latter is the official history of the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Church of America from its beginnings until its merger with the American Presbyterian Church in 1920 . He died in Milwaukee, Wis. , May 29, 1952 .
