HUGHES , DAVID ( 1800 - 1849 ), Independent minister ;

b. in Amlwch, Angl. , the son of a prosperous farmer . He received a good education locally and he also went to a school in Liverpool . He became a member of Tabernacl chapel , Liverpool under the ministry of John Breese and he started to preach there. He was a student at the Presbyterian College , Carmarthen , 1824-28 and he was ordained minister of Mill Street Chapel , Newport , 1 Jan. 1829 . Ten years later he was inducted as minister at Trelech, Carm. on 11-13 June, 1839 . He published a useful catechism for Sunday schools and he worked diligently for years on a general dictionary but this was not finished. He d. 20 Feb., 1849 .
