JAMES , JAMES (‘ Iago ap Iago ’; 1818 - 1843 ), poet ;

b. 14 Mar. 1818 at Defynnog, Breck. , son of James James , merchant . He was educated at the village school and also privately. Despite having a weak constitution, he studied diligently and was considered to be a good linguist . He d. 30 July 1843 aged 25. His poetry was written in free metre, and some of his work, as well as articles, appeared in Yr Eurgrawn and other periodicals. His brother, Morgan James , wrote a short biography of him and collected his poetical works, in a volume edited by I. Jenkins , and published by Thomas Williams , Crickhowell , in 1844 .
